SSD Upgrade #3
In our last entry, we highlighted a problem we had with our raid 0 setup. This issue is more serious than it is and to resolve the issue and complete this upgrade, we’re anticipating a reformat of our server. This is a good thing since we do need a fresh start with our OS – the Xeon server was the first time we dipped our feet into 64bit and there are things we would do differently.
Though we’re reformatting the server. All topics, posts and all other data will be saved and restored.
This reinstall will take roughly 24 hours – we anticipate our site to be up and running within 16 hours after shutting down the server for maintenance.
This will be A LOT faster once our database is running off the SSD.
This upgrade will take place Monday 11th Jan 2010 (HK time) morning.
