It’s 1:30AM folks, and we’re still awake and working on the server.

The search will be coming back within the next two hours. We are already reindexing the search at full speed! So it won’t be long.

The site will appear a big slower as we’re compiling a few updates.

Evening everyone, it is 11PM HK time.

Though we’re sleepy, we’ll still be pulling along to get this upgrade done and have our site in functional order before any rest will be made. Currently the site is up. However, please report ALL BUGS.

Hi folks, it is 9:30PM in HK.

We’re nearly done with the upgrade. There is still a lot of work to do but within the next 2-3 hours we will have basic functionality up and running.

Hi folks, it’s half past 5 here in HK.

We have finished installing CentOS 5.4 into our database server. We have now started configuring our server. This will take a few hours to get the basics up and running.

It’s nearly 5PM in HK.

And we’ve just began the re-installation. Sorry about the delay folks, but we got held up.

Afternoon folks, it is 1:34PM here in HK.

We’re still waiting for the technie to finish up his work. So in the mean time, we have spent our time preparing the other servers for the new software we’ll be installing on the database server. And we’ll also be upgrading the software on our images server.

Hi folks, it is a 12:10PM here.

We have completed our back ups and transfers already. Our server has been shut down and pending re-installation. There is a Dell technie here and he’s using our monitor so we’ll have to wait 30 minutes before we can get it back to process further.

Hi folks.

It is 11AM here in HK at a cool 15 degrees. We’re making good haste with our back up, however, due to the size of our back ups, it will take longer than expected to transfer them to back up harddrives. ETA for back ups to complete transferring is 40min. Only then will we shut down the servers and perform the upgrade and re-installation. Won’t be long folks.

PS We’ve been down for roughly 4 hours so far.

Just a status update to those watching. We’re making good time with the back up process and expect to be finished within the next 80 minutes. After the back up procedure, we will be shutting down the server for the hardware swap and re-installation.
